Located in Chanmari in the city of Aizawl, was established in July, 1980. The College is christened after Mr. HRANGBANA (Late), one education minded and prominent businessman who generously donated a sum of Rupees one lakh to start the college from scratch.
The College was upgraded to the Deficit Grant-in-Aid Status in 1985 and finally has become a Government College in 2003.
It was affiliated to NEHU, Shillong and at present is under the Mizoram University. It has also been listed under 2(f) and 12(B) of the U.G.C. Act. NAAC Accredited B++ in 2006 and Accredited A in 2011..
The College Library is the soul of the institution and it acquires, processes, preserves and disseminates information to the user community . It has an extensive collection of books, reference materials for satisfying the academic and research needs of the students and faculty. The Library and Information Centre consists a Reference Section, Circulation Section, Periodical Section. The library has automated all its library activities to provide effective and wide range of academic resources such as books, journals, online databases.
New Suggestions: The library always encourages all students and faculty to recommend new books in order to strengthen their collection. The students and faculty members can also suggest new titles by completing necessary formalities.

Career counselling is a domain of counselling that focuses on helping individuals find the right career pathway. In career counselling the individuals receive guidance from professional counsellors that provide expert advice on the potentials, Aptitude, motivations, skills and shortcomings with the use of carefully designed assessment tools. These assessment tools are both subjective and objective. After carefully studying the individual’s Interests and Aptitude, career counsellors guide individuals to set their career goals.
Our modern lecture and seminar rooms have fitted with latest multimedia technology including Wireless overhead Projectors, etc with the necessary technology that allow remote access to live lectures.
Freedom Arts Society is dedicated to the promotion of art within Govt. Hrangbana College and the surrounding area. The intent is for the club members to work together, to support fellow art students, to facilitate student/faculty relationships, to promote a strong art community..
Youth Adventure Club
The Youth Adventure Club is the adventure wing of the college, where students who are inclined towards outdoor activities group together, and undertake various training, expeditions, search and rescue courses, and also render assistance in crisis situations in the community.
