Appeal for Metric 1.2.1

Appeal for Metric 1.2.1

1.2.1 Number of Add on /Certificate/Value added programs offered where the students of the institution have benefitted during the last five years.

As our college engages in the rigorous process of accreditation, in the pursuit of educational excellence and accreditation, our college has diligently adhered to the standards set forth by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). However, upon reviewing the points awarded by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), we have identified a few discrepancies that warrant closer examination and appeal. In particular, we
express grievance over the allocation of points for Metric 1.2.1 – Value Added Courses which significantly undervalues the contributions of certain courses to our institution’s educational framework.
The grievance arises from the apparent discrepancy between the points awarded and the actual contributions of certain courses to our institution’s educational objectives. As requested on DVV, courses such as Course in Computer Concepts (CCC) for five years and Palliative Care for four years are counted as one course. To address these grievances and ensure fair assessment practices, we urge NAAC to revisit its criteria for evaluating value-added courses. Specifically, the recurring nature of certain courses should be recognized and account for their continuous contributions to student learning and development over the assessment period of five years as Value Added Courses in all these five years separately.

In the metric 1.2.1 presented, the institution received a mere 2 points for its Value Added Courses, a score that falls short of expectations and warrants closer examination. Therefore, we request NAAC to consider adjusting our points from 2 to 4 in the metric. The benchmark for receiving 4 points in Metric 1.2.1 is >=25, and considering our appeal, our Value Added Courses are more than 25 (Supporting documents are attached). By acknowledging the recurring nature of certain courses and adopting a more nuanced approach to evaluation, NAAC can uphold the integrity of the accreditation process and accurately reflect the contributions of institutions to
student learning and development.
In view of the documents attached, Govt Hrangbana College feels that changes made by NAAC during DVV verifications be reviewed and all the programs claimed by HEI be considered for the calculation of related metrics.
